Frequently asked questions
When you come to Crossroads, you enter into a healing environment both inside the Centre, and outside on the beautiful island of Antigua.
What is the length of the program?
29 days, however longer treatment stays may be recommended by
the clinical team.
What is the Cost of your program?
The current program fees for a 29-day residential stay are U.S. $21,000.00. In addition, we ask for a U.S. $500 medical deposit, so clients entering treatment pay a total of $21,500.00. Treatment fees are non –refundable following admission. Our fees are inclusive of: on site detoxification services, individual and group counselling services, complementary therapies such as massage, auricular acupuncture, fitness instruction, aftercare planning and family program participation. Services not included in this fee would be: Psychiatric consultations, off-site medical services, or medications outside of detoxification. Should a person’s treatment stay be extended, additional fees will apply.
Why is your program less expensive than other comparable
programs?
The Crossroads at Antigua Foundation is based in the United
Kingdom and helps to subsidize the cost of treatment for
clients. This has been a large part of our mission as
directed by our founder, Mr. Eric Clapton, to provide quality,
yet affordable treatment.
Do you accept Insurance?
We do not accept insurance as a form or payment; however, we will
work with your insurance company and provide the necessary
documentation following your completion of the program.
This can only be facilitated if the client makes a written
request and signs a release of information allowing our contact
with the insurance company. Many of our clients have been
partially reimbursed following their treatment episode.
What are your methods of payment?
Our methods of payment are: wire transfer, credit card, and
certified bank draft. Full payment is expected prior to
admission.
How would you describe your client population?
All inpatient clients are over the age of 18 with a primary
diagnosis of chemical dependency. Approximately 75% of our
clients are residents of the United States. We also serve an
international clientele of United Kingdom residents, Europeans,
Canadians, and Caribbean clients. We find this cultural
diversity makes for a dynamic client population. Because
of the higher level of confidentiality Crossroads can provide
through our location, we also attract individuals that might,
for personal or employment reasons, prefer to have their records
out of their country. Women make up approximately 30% of
our population.
What is the size of the client population?
We have the capacity to provide treatment to a maximum of 32
clients at any given time. This lends itself to group
sizes of approximately 8-10 persons which is ideal for group
therapy sessions. It also means that the facility is small
enough that clients cannot “fall through the cracks” or go
through unnoticed. It is typical for our entire
staff- from our CEO to our kitchen and housekeeping staff to
know the names and faces of each client. In fact, our CEO
meets individually with each client prior to the completion of
the program to review their aftercare plans and receive feedback
on their treatment experience at Crossroads.
How do I get there?
Antigua is accessible by plane and there are several direct flights
from the United Kingdom, United States and Canada. Our
admissions staff can help you with this process by directing you on
the most direct route from your area. You can also view our
Travel page for travel schedules and
passport information.
Will someone pick me up at the airport?
One of our drivers will meet you at the airport and bring you to
Crossroads for admission. We have special arrangements
with the Antigua and Barbuda Immigration Department to allow for
smooth entrance into the country. Our drivers will also take you
back to the airport following your completion of the program.
How is the food?
All
of our food is prepared fresh in our kitchen. We use a variety
of local fruits and vegetables as well as meat, poultry and
fish. The food is both rich in flavour as well as being
nutritious, with the essential nutrients for persons in early
recovery. We carefully monitor the use of sugar and salt in the
menu and we emphasize a daily variety of salads, and homemade
soups. We can accommodate most special diet requirements
and this is usually discussed in the admission process.
Are private rooms available?
All of our residential rooms, with the exception of some our detoxification rooms, are double occupancy. Experience tells us that it is important for the alcoholic or addict to stop the process of isolation and to provide opportunity to develop healthy, sober communication skills. Each of the residential rooms opens to a wide verandah for outdoor socializing and relaxation.
Can I leave the campus?
Twice each week clients leave the campus with staff to go the beach for a recreational swim and Big Book meeting. In the last week of treatment, clients attend an off-campus 12-step meeting. Clients are not permitted to leave the grounds without supervision.
